Recommendation: Places for Hanami (Flower Viewing)
1. Hirosaki Castle (Northern part of Honshu Main Island)
This place is perfect for
those who missed the early sakura bloom. Since it’s located on the northern part,
the cherry blossom trees here bloom later than the southern part. This place
will also transform into a world full of pink, where you can rent a boat, walk
through the tunnel full of cherry blossoms, have a lovely picnic, etc, as written in https://www.insidejapantours.com/blog/2015/02/24/10-fantastic-places-to-see-cherry-blossom-in-japan/. This
place is truly a heaven for those who missed the early sakura bloom. You will
be able to enjoy this place since it’s like a heaven of cherry blossom,
especially in late April until early of May there will be a Hirosaki Cherry
Blossom Festival.

2. Shinjuku Gyoen (Shibuya, Tokyo)
The cherry blossom trees
here bloom longer than anywhere else, as written in https://www.insidejapantours.com/blog/2015/02/24/10-fantastic-places-to-see-cherry-blossom-in-japan/. Even though it’s located in the bustling
city like Tokyo, here you can find a peaceful and relaxing time. There’s a lake
in the center of the park so you can also enjoy the view of the reflection of
cherry blossom trees on the lake. You should try to bring your own handmade
lunchbox and have a picnic here!

3.
Yoshino
Mountain (Nara Prefecture)
This place is perfect for both
hiking and sakura viewing. While hiking to the top of the mountain, you can
also enjoy the view from cherry blossom trees all the way to the top. You can
also find many food stalls here, especially in spring. However, I recommend you
to visit this place when it’s not peak season. Or maybe, you could book the
Japanese-style inn (ryokan), as written in https://www.insidejapantours.com/blog/2015/02/24/10-fantastic-places-to-see-cherry-blossom-in-japan/. That way, you could enjoy the cherry blossoms
while resting and warming up your body in the hot spring (onsen).
